Gemma
Gemma is a young girl who had an extremely difficult start in life. She found herself pregnant while she was basically still a puppy and trying to survive in a horrendous situation. She managed to not only survive, but protect her babies till we were able to bring the whole family to safety.
Gemma now has the luxury of being a puppy herself! She is 100% puppy and 100% plus personality!!! She is just the happiest little girl. She’s forgetting her past very quickly with and settling in to a home with her foster.
She’s learning some basic commands and walks beautifully on leash.
Now she’s looking for her family & permanent home? ?
Please reach out to the rescue or contact her Foster for more information if you would like to meet this sweet little Survivor

Shelby
Shelby has been at a rescue in Mexico for the longest time and every time we visit, he is super friendly....and then we heard that he was sick...and we just knew we had to get him out.
Shelby had a bad bout of tick fever, which is *very* common for street dogs and dogs living outside in the rural Southwest. It is non-contagious to other dogs or humans, but left untreated, can be deadly to dogs and puppies. It is easily treated with doxycycline, and we got Shelby on this immediately, and he is doing wonderfully well! Now that he is out of the stressful shelter environment, getting adequate nutrition, and lots of lovin' from his foster, he is just like any other dog!
Shelby's backstory is heartbreaking...he was picked up by a rescue when he was a young pup with his brother, who did not make it. He is missing half of one ear and that is how they found him. There was a flood at the rescue and he escaped, but was found a couple of weeks later. That means he has lived pretty much his entire life at this rescue.
Shelby has never really had a home and while the people there took care of him, he has never had his own special person. No toys, no bed no one that really loved him.
This is something we want for all our dogs, but it is especially sad because he is just the gentlest and most affectionate soul. We REALLY want to find Shelby his person...could it be you?
He is so quiet and just loves to have his neck and ears rubbed. He walks very calmly on leash. Shelby loves people and other dogs...would do well in a home that is quiet and gentle, perhaps with other gentle dogs for companionship when his person isn't around. He's currently fostered as an only dog....and doing great. So we know he will be fine just about anywhere!
Shelby is about 5yrs, housebroken and full of joy and love to give. We are hoping to fill the second half of his life with a home and forever person to call his own.

Wendy
Wendy came to us from a hoarding case in Rio Rico. She was living with 32 dogs and the owner decided to move out of town, leaving them without a home and in danger of going to a VERY high kill shelter. Several rescues came together to save these dogs from that fate and Wendy is one of three dogs from the "SC32" that came to Paws Without Borders. We're so glad you're here, Wendy!
Wendy is a Puggle - her dad was a Labrador and mom was a pug...She is petite at about 28 pounds, 4 years of age, and boy oh boy, this girl has LOTS of love to give!!!
Wendy is a dedicated companion dog. She wants to be where you are and loves to snuggle up next to you on the couch or in bed. She has good hearing and will alert you when someone is at the door or has come into the house. Wendy can’t get enough pets and thanks you with her licks and kisses! She is unknown with cats, and we think she would flourish as an only dog but is dog friendly.
Wendy loves people food, and her current foster currently adds some scrambled eggs & cheese or a little bit of fresh or cooked veggies to her meals. She loves: scrambled eggs, plain rice, and cheese. She prefers sleeping with her humans, she will tolerate a crate with the door open, but panics when the door is closed.
Wendy is a friendly and enthusiastic girl who is always happy to see you! She will “sit” for treats. She will alert-bark when someone is at the door, or someone is in front of our house. She will sometimes whimper/vocalize when she is frustrated. She seeks out pets and often looks to where “her person” is.
Wendy has dodged death's door, and we just want her to find the best home for her forever after. Please reach out if you think that might be with you!
